Course: Advanced NSCLC: Optimizing Nursing Care in Rural and Underserved Communities

CME Credits: 1.00

Released: 2026-05-15

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounts for up to 85% of all lung cancer cases, with a 5-year relative survival rate of approximately 7% among patients with advanced or metastatic disease. Although advances in therapy have led to substantial improvements in overall survival, declines in mortality have been less pronounced in rural versus urban areas. Fortunately, oncology nurses play a key role in improving management in these populations, particularly in community-based settings where patients face oncology workforce shortages and long travel distances to larger cancer facilities. In this on-demand CE activity, expert faculty will discuss the latest treatment approaches for advanced NSCLC and important nursing considerations for care. The program will also highlight monitoring and management strategies for treatment-related adverse events and approaches to enhance education and communication with patients. The content for this enduring activity was recorded during a live webinar on March 28, 2026.
