Research Article: Localization of the Autism Spectrum Disorder Knowledge Scale Professional Version (ASKSP-R) in western cities of China

Date Published: 2025-09-10

Abstract:
This study aimed to translate, revise, and validate the Autism Spectrum Knowledge Scale for Professional Version-Revised (ASKSP-R), used to assess the knowledge of professionals involved in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) care and services, such as such as clinicians, educators, and therapist, in the Chinese context. The Chinese version of ASKSP-R demonstrated high internal consistency (Cronbach’s ? = 0.885) and strong structural validity (KMO = 0.888, RMSEA = 0.059). CFA supported a multidimensional structure, with acceptable fit indices (e.g., IFI = 0.88). IRT analysis showed suitable difficulty (-3 to +3) and discrimination (>0.5) parameters for all items. The revised ASKSP-R scale exhibited robust psychometric properties, and it can help assess the relevant knowledge of clinicians, educators, therapists, and other ASD-related professionals, enabling appropriate interventions based on assessment results, promoting targeted training and education, and increasing the rate of early diagnosis and intervention for ASD.

Recent epidemiological updates indicate over 12.7 million ASD…
